What is the Future for Sustainable Agriculture?

Eternals Service

Eternals approach each site with care and have the environment at our heart. We provide site assessment, bio-restoration service, reporting and operation management service. At Eternals, we are committed to delivering exceptional outcomes that go beyond mere restoration. We strive to create lasting assets that contribute to a greener and more sustainable future for all.

At Eternals Limited, we are driven by a vision of a greener, more sustainable future. Our seaweed-based products offer a range of benefits, including reducing reliance on fossil fuel resources and ensuring the synthesis of cost-effective and eco-friendly alternatives. By developing sustainable biorefinery processes, we optimize the potential of seaweed biomass, minimize waste, and foster a circular economy.

Eternals is proud to present our ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Education Program, a transformative initiative aimed at empowering individuals and organizations to embrace sustainable practices and drive positive change for Hong Kong schools and companies.

Ocean Health = Earth Health

The ocean plays a vital role in regulating the global climate and is essential to human society, acting as a carbon sink, oxygen provider, food source, and cultural anchor. However, climate change poses significant risks to ocean health and the cost of damage could be $322 billion a year by 2050 without proactive measures. The transition to a sustainable “blue” economy presents an opportunity to manage ocean resources in a more integrated and resilient manner, accounting for the value of natural capital and ecosystem services.

V

Vegetables

Using ocean resources for vegetable production can uses up to 90% less water and a fraction of the energy than traditional farming.

A

Algae

Algae can be used to produce biofuels, fertilizers, and animal feed. Seaweed can help absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere while providing important habitat for marine life.

M

Mushrooms

Mushroom farming has a low environmental impact and can provide a sustainable source of protein. Additionally, mushroom farming can help to recycle waste materials.

O

Oyster

Oyster farming can help to filter water and improve water quality, making it an important practice for maintaining healthy aquatic ecosystems.

S

Seagrass

Seagrass provides habitat for marine life, absorbs carbon dioxide, reduces coastal erosion, and filters pollutants to improve water quality.

We are not far away from global food crisis...

The global hunger crisis is reaching unprecedented levels. The number of people facing acute food insecurity or at risk of it has increased dramatically in just two years, from 135 million in 53 countries before the pandemic, to 345 million in 79 countries in 2023. The crisis is fueled by conflict, climate shocks, and COVID-19, with the war in Ukraine driving up the costs of food, fuel, and fertilizers. This has led to millions of people struggling to put food on the table and facing starvation. Immediate action is needed to address this crisis while also supporting long-term resilience programs, or there will be catastrophic levels of hunger.

Untapped Potential in Hong Kong Coastline

Hong Kong possesses a diverse coastal ecology, presenting untapped potential for large-scale local seaweed production in both indoor and outdoor environments. Eternals aims to develop cultivation protocol for local seaweed species (Sargassum hemiphyllum), focusing on maximizing space efficiency and growth rate. The mariculture propagation will help with carbon sequestration, habitat restoration, and the sample extracted can be used for extraction.
